Bent poplar veneers, laminated together into 5 arcs, and shaped into wedges to form a collapsible bowl. The exact fit needs to be reworked, but it technically works.

Strata floor poof for class at @artcenteredu . It’s fuzzy.
🫐 Made of PET (acoustic) felt and a gallon of contact cement. Many thanks to @accd_shops for the support.

My ottoman BirdSong: patchwork of leather around a core of foam, sewn by me in the @sewinglab.artcenter. This is a half scale model, meaning the “real thing” would have 8 times the volume.

Aha! The experiments worked!
I fiddled about with glaze layering and clay mixing and these are the results. 🤓
On an English Porcelain test tile, I dipped in Oribe and then in Long Beach Blue. It created this lovely metallicy teal tea dust texture w

We survived bisque firing!
I wasn’t sure if the base thickness was going to make it, what with the tiny neck and all. Stay tuned for glaze photos. 💙

First successful thrown bowl. 💪🎉
Thank you to the little @heatherrosenmanceramics who sits on my shoulder and reminds me to ground my elbows and be patient.

5 feet in diameter is pretty big.

Look what I made! This is another glaze testing piece, hence the roughly cleaned up edges on the before-firing photo. The color and shape is so nice though, I might have to clean up the edges, reglaze, and refire to get the outside to be worthy of th

Today was messy but fun. I am finally combining the black and white porcelains in a single thrown piece. Results tbd.

Today in @sewinglab.artcenter we learned about various fibers and textiles… these were my favorites. 🥰

I could have planned the placement of the wick a *little* bit better. And it would have been a good idea to clear all the holes of glaze to let light shine through. And perhaps account for shrinkage and leave some more room around the candle. 🤷‍

Before and After today’s throwing…… I wedged up 12 separate 1 lb balls of porcelain (midrange) and managed to turn 7 of them into cylinders. 4 did not work out and ended up rainbows. 1 was leftover because I was tired and lost con
